Overview
The National Grid supplies energy to residents of Massachusetts, New York and Rhode Island. The control room monitors entryways and access points of various power generation facilities in the region.
Challenge
Previously operators used an individual monitor, mouse, and keyboard to view and control over 22 systems. Reaction time to clear alarms could be slow, the control interface was not simple and there was no redundancy in case of failure.
Solution
The new system using RGB Spectrum’s MultiPoint® Enterprise system provides flexibility and system redundancy. Each of the 6 control stations can display and control any of the 50 system resources on one of their local 7 displays or on the 2x4 video wall for the group to view.
Additionally, the supervisor can review and control of all sources displayed at each control station increasing situational awareness and reducing reaction time.
