Santa's Mission Control

Track Santa with NORAD

On December 24, 1948, the United States Air Force issued a communication claiming that an "early warning radar net to the north" had detected "one unidentified sleigh, powered by eight reindeer, at 14,000 feet, heading 180 degrees. In 1958, the North America Air Defense Command (NORAD) took over the responsibility and the reporting became more elaborate as the years passed.

Today NORAD’s Santa Tracker website shares updates each hour, for different time zones to virtually show Santa’s location. The "Santa Cam" shows images of Santa flying over famous landmarks coupled with music done by the US Air Force Band.

WATCH SANTA FLY THIS YEAR!

It's a mystery how Santa Claus does it. In one night, he delivers toys to children in every home around the world. Sure, he has a magical sleigh and eight flying reindeer, but it's a tough job for one stout, elderly man.

You must wonder if this could physically be possible. And what technologies does he leverage to monitor and execute all his operations year round, and even on that special night in December.

With the world's population now in excess of 8 billion people, it's a tougher job than ever for Santa Claus. But with the power of RGB Spectrum—and maybe a little Christmas magic—Santa is more than up to the challenge.

Running the Village in Rovaniemi

Millions of people travel to the North Pole to catch a glimpse of Santa's Village. Although the village is open to visitors, many of the areas remain top-secret. From the waters where the narwhal swims through the candy cane forest to Santa's workshop and the master list resides, reliable video wall display and content management tools are essential.

Santa and his elves rely on visual information to monitor, assess and respond accordingly. RGB Spectrum's Zio Video-over-IP platform combines video distribution with sophisticated multi-image display. It includes an extensive array of IP devices, such as encoders, decoders, multiviewers, and video wall processors.

Santa's Command and Control Center

Not only do you need elves monitoring the village, they also need to view and share visual data inside the room, throughout the village, and ever around the globe. Having the right information displayed at the right time is truly a Christmas miracle.

Inside the command-and-control center, Santa and his elves can interact with multiple sources in various formats and collaborate with each other to decide who is naughty or nice. Using video walls, control systems, and KVM control, they can manage all operations easily and safely.

Real-Time Tracking of Package Deliveries

We all know that one special night each year, when Santa is away from home and out spreading joy and cheer for all the hear. Delivering presents is a big job!

With the help of Zio Mobile, Santa can receive video streams from his command-and-control room in real time. Anyone can push video streams to his mobile device using Zio's browser-based GUI. He can then browse and select streams for viewing to confirm things at the village are operating smoothly, while at the same time ensuring he is on the best route for delivering mission-critical Christmas presents.
