The GRAMMY Museum at L.A. LIVE occupies a vibrant new 30,000 square foot facility in downtown Los Angeles. The Museum explores and celebrates the enduring legacies of all forms of music, the creative process, the art and technology of the recording process, and the history of the GRAMMY® Awards, the premier recognition of recorded music accomplishment. Its four floors of cutting edge exhibits, interactive experiences and films provide an engaging, educational, and inspirational visitor experience.

One of the most popular exhibits is the "Crossroads" table, an interactive multimedia exploration of nearly one-hundred and six genres of music. The exhibit features a large display table with touchscreen technology to let visitors choose from a vast array of musical styles, with photographs, songs, and text describing the music and its impact. The Crossroads display table is powered by RGB Spectrum's DualView™ multiviewers, which provide the ability to display multiple images on each of the table displays.

Design and Production Incorporated (D&P), an audio-video integrator specialized in the museum exhibition industry, was hired by The GRAMMY Museum to engineer and install the multimedia technology for the exhibits. In keeping with the Crossroads exhibit's innovative style, D&P sought multi-image display technology that combined superb image quality with top-level performance and viewing versatility.

Four DualView multiviewers receive animated graphics from a total of eight computer inputs. The multiviewers consolidate these images and feed them to four Digital Projection I-Vision 20 SX+XB projectors, mounted overhead, which project the multi-window images onto the table's touchscreen surface. A key benefit of the DualView multiviewer is that is gives visitors complete interactive control of image placement and size. Visitors can click and drag windows independently to make them any size, anywhere, in any orientation. Display versatility is limitless.

The multiviewer's internal scalers convert the computer signals to match the native resolution of the projectors for the highest possible image quality. Each multiviewer supports up to six inputs, two of which can be displayed simultaneously.

According to D&P, the Crossroads exhibit is one of kind, never done before in a museum. It has been a captivating hit with visitors and museum staff alike.

Museum exhibit design was done by Gallagher Design Associates based in Bethesda, Maryland, with offices in San Francisco, California. Software development was done by Second Story Interactive Studios of Portland, Oregon.
