Quality Magazine, a monthly publication that focuses on quality assurance and process improvement, compiles an annual list of companies that embrace best practices in manufacturing. Their “Quality Leadership 100” list recognizes these top-performing plants for their dedication to achieving the highest level of quality. These companies reflect varied geographic regions and market segments, but all share a strong commitment to promoting industry standards. In the magazine’s 2014 results, RGB Spectrum placed 25^th overall nationwide for quality leadership, exceeding its excellent showing of 69^th in 2013.

The magazine analyzed manufacturing companies across the nation according to the following criteria:

• continuous improvement and internal quality programs
• contribution of quality to profitability
• average number of hours of quality training
• scrap and rework as a percentage of sales
• warranty costs
• registration to standards such as ISO 9001

A large number of industry professionals were invited to complete quality surveys. In addition, employees at each company on the previous year’s list were sent questionnaires. The survey results were analyzed by BNP Media Market Research to determine the Quality Leadership 100.

Since assuming oversight of RGB Spectrum operations in 2011, COO Scott Norder has implemented a number of continuous improvement initiatives. Business operation metrics are reported and reviewed on a weekly basis by a cross-functional team. These reviews help identify production issues and ensure effective corrective actions. Deliverables are subject to rigorous process control measures aimed at reducing non-conformance rates, RMAs and warranty returns.

RGB Spectrum’s increase in rank this year reflects the company’s commitment to its quality mission: “to supply products that meet or exceed promised performance and technical specifications, coupled with a commitment to continuous improvement.” Over the past few years, management’s commitment to prioritizing quality control has streamlined production and significantly improved operational efficiency.

This focus on quality at the highest levels of the company is what enables RGB Spectrum to manufacture products that consistently meet or exceed customer expectations for performance and reliability.
